Christmas Traditions

Our Christmas Eves are steeped in traditions that our children have come to love. We begin with our "Bethlehem Dinner." It's a simple dinner with food similar to what the Savior may have eaten. It usually includes fish, crackers, bread, olives, grapes, cheeses (goat cheese for those who really want to be authentic). We light the menorah, sing a few songs, and eat by candlelight.

Ava wasn't a fan of green olives.

We read the Christmas stories, the traditional one as well as the Nephite Christmas story, and usually we act out the nativity, although this year it was late and we didn't.
Nanna read the stories, so naturally a dogpile ensued.

We dip candles to clip on the Christmas tree, then we light them and sing Christmas hymns.

Can you find the real flames? There are seven.

Lily dutifully spread reindeer food on the front steps and sidewalk....Emma left carrots.
