Random Recap

Good Grief, where does the time go and why am I always behind? This little recap will be just that....little, because if you judged what happened in our lives by the quantity of pictures I've taken the past few months, then we've been doing a whole lot of nothing.....but that really isn't true. I've just been neglecting the camera and the blog while I've focused efforts elsewhere.

There have been multiple dentist appointments, little league basketball games and practices, track practices and meets. Chris's mom, Carla, has come a couple of different times to spend a few days with us. To top it off, we finally had the carpet finished in our basement and I have spent endless hours purging and sorting through stuff. I've blown away the whole 40 bags in 40 days buzz that's been circulating blogland. The quantity of stuff we've hauled off would more accurately be measured by the truckload, and has left me to ponder the notion that I might be a hoarder.

Here's what the camera says has been going on around here, in completely random order.

Owen takes turns reading scriptures with us at night. He used to let us read each word to him and he'd repeat it. Now he insists on "reading" them on his own. Most of what he says is incoherent rambling, but throws a few buzz words like "it came to pass," "my father," and "Jesus".

We eat a lot of popcorn at our house, in fact a day rarely passes when we don't make it. It's probably a bit excessive.
......and we have no problem with the notion of double fisting it.

Chris played in a fundraising basketball game with the Harlem Ambassadors. I didn't do very well taking pictures that night. This picture is a bit like "Where's Waldo?"......Can you spot Chris?

Lily went to Cabela's with my mom and brought these antlers home for Owen.

One of his sisters thought he should be Rudolph, so they brought him a toy apple with some masking tape.

These are the moments I live for.....
The ones when my kids decide to snuggle up and read a book together without me instructing them to and without squabbling. Bliss.

A little tub time.

Ava, fresh out of the tub, camera lens cap in hand.

Some days I feel as if I run circles and never really accomplish anything of merit, as I scrolled through some of our recent pictures, I had to smile when I saw these pictures. They are from way back in February when I was making the kids' valentines. Snapping a quick picture should be a simple task, right? No task is simple around here and these pictures prove it. First Ava interrupts the picture taking so she can give O a hug.

She gets her hug and moves on, I get the picture I need for Owen's valentine and turn around to see her unloading her diapers to the floor.
The dog was even in the middle of the action and under foot.
She earns her keep though. She is adored and tolerates a lot of love.

Sometimes Ava sleeps curled up with her sweet little toes poking out......be still my ever-baby-hungry heart.

My mom is a museum fanatic. I can only remember one family vacation (the one to Disney World....and after some thought, I remembered we even went to a museum on that trip too, The Kennedy Space Center.) that didn't include a visit to a museum or a cemetery. Here she is at the dino museum attempting to boost enthusiasm and convince the girls that fossils are, in fact, super exciting.

Owen loved dusting the pellets off of these fossils at the museum.

No explanation necessary on this one.

Chris was given a cookie bouquet from the booster club. Owen quickly laid claim to the basketball one.

Sometimes I wonder when he'll quit wearing my make-up.

I had to get creative on the days the carpet guy was here. I attempted to keep Owen out of his way. He really wanted to follow him around, snapping pictures of him with his camera, and tell him things like, "You have really big hair, you need a haircut? Nana can do it." and "I wike your tools. I hab wots of tools"
We tried painting with pudding and gluing noodles.

It was messy.

One day we decided to dye rice. It was messy too, but fun.

The colors were beautiful and vibrant in the beginning, not so much now, but O has been loving playing with it. We get it out a few times a week while Ava is napping.

Lately when Owen wakes up in the morning, he stays in his room for a while and quietly reads to himself. It's the sweetest thing, totally melts my heart. I love hearing what he "reads," I have to be sneaky though, he doesn't appreciate being watched.

Wow. That recap ended up being longer than I thought it'd be.
